Georgetown Art Attack Lights Up

the Holidays on Saturday, December 11

The colorful Georgetown Second Saturday Art Attack celebrates the holiday season on December 11 with a diverse array of challenging visual and performing arts presentations throughout the historic business district. Dozens of independent artists’ studios will be open to the public, joined by the many creative enterprises that make Georgetown a wonderfully unique civic asset.

Among the many highlights of the holiday Art Attack: Open studios at Equinox with live music, blacksmithing demonstrations, refreshments and the work of over 50 resident artists; Georgetown Arts and Cultural Center hosts figurative sculpture by Katrina Wolfe; the 4th Annual Holiday Artisans Bazaar Party with lights, treats and special guests at theGeorgetown Trailer Park Mall featuring soft sculptures by artist Rick Baker of Hallava Falafel in the Frida Trailer Gallery and a Trailer Park Cinema screening of “Santa Claus vs. the Martians” among other holiday classics; quilt artist Mary K. Parkhurst and photographer Sue Benyak at Two Tartes CafĂ©; a lively Art Jam at 9 Lb. Hammer featuring Georgetown artists creating works on site to a rhythmic urban beat; Holiday Art Sale with all paintings under $100 at the Miller School of Art; Bella Vitale studio features "Flamenco paintings" and cold weather glam clothing for humans and dogs by Bella Vitale; Brandon Bowman's fantastic metalwork and paintings at Nautilus studio; Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery’s fabulous 4th anniversary party with music by Zak Sally and Mark Pickerel and “Medieval Thinkers” comix art exhibition curated by Friends of the Nib; hip hops at Full Throttle Bottles; stencil artists Randal Owen and of Dave Ryan at Calamity Jane’s; and much, much more.

Georgetown Art Attack Attractions:
The AV Club, a new Georgetown film and video showcase located in the alley between Flora and Ellis behind Tacoma Screw, will feature the installation, ”Ohio,” by Laura Wright, which serves dual functions as an environmental installation and as the ambience for AV Club Cinema media presentations; the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall launches the Fourth Annual Holiday Bazaar including new work by Mark Tweed in the Lula B Lightning Trailer and Cooper Lanza in the Red Purse Airstream; the Georgetown Atelier is hosting its annual holiday party celebrating their second year in Georgetown with artwork raffled to raise money for student scholarships; Krab Jab Studio will be host a solo show of Mark Tedin's large works on paper; Calamity Janes will present oil paintings by Kyle Abernethy, assemblages by Corey Urlacher and photography by Michelle Smith Lewis; Mickey Williams’ photographs are at the Nautilus studio; Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery hosts a book launch event for Destroy All Movies: The Complete Guide to Punks on Film with editors Zack Carlson, Bryan Connolly, and designer Jacob Covey, together with an exhibition of prints by cartoonist Charles Burns.

Treats Visitors to Thrilling Art
Saturday October 9th, 6-9pm

Georgetown Art Attack returns to its old haunt on Saturday,October 9th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM with the diverse array of challenging visual and performing arts that have come to characterize this unique cultural outing since its inception in 2007. Please join us to celebrate the creativity of this singular Seattle arts community.


Among the highlights of the October 9 Art Attack: “Developing a Translation of Relation,” prints and drawings by Jameson Hubbard at the Georgetown Arts and Cultural Center; the haunted Georgetown Trailer Park will be granting treats to visitors in costume and Comet Lodge Mercantile is featuring new work by artist Eric Edwards in the Rocket Trailer; the Nautilus Studio will present a special installation in the Steam Room by Steve Roumas; a rare open studio at Matt Stiger’s colorful neon facility at nearby 6321 Corgiat St.; a solo show of Kat Houseman 's oil paintings atCalamity Jane’s; “Bent” drawings by Dave Cooper with “Prison Pit” prints by Johnny Ryan at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery; open studios including watercolors by Mark La Falce and works by Mark Tedin, Kyle Abernethy, Julie Baroh and Michael Hoppe at Krab Jab Studio in the historic Rainier Cold Storage complex; and much more.

Among the many free visual and performing arts events on Saturday August 14th: Georgetown Records and Fantagraphics Bookstore present the book launch party for “Cover Story: Odd, Obscure, and Outrageous Album Art” featuring an exhibition of album art from the book, a book signing, and DJ sets from contributors Aja West and Cheeba; The Georgetown Arts and Cultural Center presents a solo show “Archetypes and Lucky Charms” which combines universal archetypes with individual portraiture by Seattle artist Deborah Scott; the return of the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall featuring a Market of Curiosities - a collective of local artists with hands-on activities – followed by an outdoor screening of highlights from the Georgetown Super 8 Film Festival at dusk; new paintings by Julie Lukes at Calamity Jane’s; photography by Robin Crookall with musical guests presented by the Twilight art collective at the Stables; the grand reopening of Krab Jab Studio, having moved from suite 335 to suite 250 of the Original Rainier Brewery, featuring new member, painter Michael Hoppe, as well as works by Julie Baroh, Kyle Abernethy, and Mark Tedin.
